Adverbs: a word or phrase that modifies a verb
- answers the questions: how, when, where, why, or to what extent
Nouns: person, place or thing
common nouns: general titles for objects: desk, house, dog
Proper nouns: names of objects/places/people: Calgary, Payton, Stavely School
Similes and Metaphors:
Similes: figure of speech comparing two things using the words "like" or "as." EX: The man was tall like a tree.
Metaphors: is a figure of speech which makes an implicit, implied or hidden comparison between two things that are unrelated but share some common characteristics. EX: The man was but a tall reed.
Imagery: Using figurative language to represent objects, actions and ideas in such a way that it appeals to our physical senses
