The curriculum rationale states that students will “develop a sense of place, identity and belonging within Alberta.” In order for students to understand choices made in our province today, they need understand the history that these decisions are based on; the social, economic and geographic reasoning. For students to appreciate what happens in other provinces, Canada and the world, they first must understand their home province.
