Order of Operations:
The Order of Operations is a rule that will tell you the sequence to follow when performing operations in a mathematical expression.
PEDMAS
Parentheses, Exponents, Divide, Multiply, Addition, Subtraction
10(4x5) x 2 + 4 = ?
1) Complete the operation in parentheses: 4x5 = 20
10(20) x 2 + 4 = ?
2) Exponents - this is not required in grade 6
3) Then do the multiplication or division, working left to right
10 x 20 = 200 x 2 = 400
4) Finally, Add and Subtract working left to right
400 + 4 = 404
