This book was recommended to me by Lucas. Thank you Lucas! I loved it.
Wild Wings is a story about two friends,Callum and Iona and a secret that they share. This story is set in a farming community in rural Scotland. The farm the Callum lives on has been in his family for over one hundred years. On the loch (lake) that is on his family's property there is a pair of Osprey that are nesting. In Scotland, Osprey are protected and many people would exploit the bird, so Iona insists that they keep the birds a secret.
The summer progresses into the fall and the osprey need to migrate, that is when the trouble begins. Callum and Iona show us that you don't need to be an adult to help educate people about animals and help to protect them.
During the last part of the book the author includes different forms of technology and how that technology helps not only Callum, but also the osprey and another character who is not well. I felt this is an effective way to show how technology can assist across great distances. I have not read about technology in this way before and I found I liked how it worked in the story.
I also liked how the author gave the osprey a voice. That was cool.
I would recommend this book to read, especially if you like animals.
This book is a two cup of tea book. That means I would read this for so long in one sitting that I would have time to drink two cups of tea (my favorite - Earl Grey).
